Unhappy and dissatisfied with the lack of new music that mixed the production styling of groups like Ratatat with the candid delivery of the Streets, dRvA was formed in response to hip-hop’s decline into a world of strippers and champagne and indie rock’s steadfast adherence to tiresome “rock n roll” clichés. The result is an original sound with familiar roots, drawing on elements of dub-step, reggae, UK garage, and classic hip hop.
A post-college twenty-something making his way through a landscape filled with urban decay, self-discovery, and hi-tops, dRvA is a window into the mind of the “entitled generation” as they attempt to find their feet in the face of bright neon lights and intense social pressure to settle for the predictable and safe.
